🌟 3 Days Until School Starts: Dream Big, Bluejays!

The countdown is almost complete! In just 3 days, the halls of Benjamin Jepson Magnet School will once again be filled with excitement, curiosity, and endless possibilities. As we prepare to welcome our Kindergarten through 8th grade students back, we're encouraging every Bluejay to think about one important idea:

Dream Big.

A new school year is a fresh beginning. It’s an opportunity to set goals, discover new interests, build confidence, and challenge yourself to learn something new. Whether a student dreams of becoming a scientist, artist, teacher, engineer, athlete, author, or community leader, every dream begins with the courage to believe in yourself and the willingness to keep learning and growing.

At Benjamin Jepson Magnet School, we want every student to know that their ideas matter, their talents are valued, and their potential is limitless. Our classrooms are places where students are encouraged to ask questions, explore new concepts, think creatively, and persevere through challenges. We believe that when students are supported and inspired, amazing things can happen.

Dreaming big doesn't always mean accomplishing something huge overnight. Sometimes it starts with small goals and steady progress. It could mean learning to read a more challenging book, mastering a new math skill, making a new friend, trying something outside your comfort zone, or discovering a new passion. Every achievement, big or small, helps students grow and move closer to their goals.

As we begin a new school year together, we want our Bluejays to soar with confidence, knowing that they are capable of great things. Our teachers and staff are excited to support each student's journey and help them discover what is possible when they work hard, stay positive, and believe in themselves.

Dream Big This Year By:

🌟 Setting goals for yourself
📚 Challenging yourself to learn something new
💡 Asking questions and staying curious
🎨 Exploring your creativity
🤝 Building positive friendships

💙 5 Days Until School Starts: Respect Helps Our Community SOAR!

The countdown continues, Bluejays! In just 5 days, we will welcome Kindergarten through 8th grade students back to Benjamin Jepson Magnet School for a new year filled with learning, friendship, and opportunity. Today, we're highlighting our final SOAR expectation: Respectful.

Respect is at the heart of a strong school community. It helps create an environment where everyone feels valued, included, and supported. At Benjamin Jepson, we believe that every student, family member, staff member, and visitor deserves to be treated with kindness, courtesy, and care.

Being respectful means listening to others, using kind words, appreciating different perspectives, and recognizing that every person has unique strengths and experiences. Respect helps us build positive relationships, solve problems thoughtfully, and create a learning environment where everyone can thrive.

One of the greatest strengths of our school is our diverse and welcoming community. Every day, our Bluejays have opportunities to learn from one another, collaborate with classmates, and celebrate what makes each person special. When students practice respect, they help create a culture of belonging where everyone feels safe and supported.

Respect also extends beyond our interactions with others. It includes taking care of our school, our classrooms, our materials, and ourselves. By showing responsibility and pride in our learning environment, we help ensure that our school remains a place where everyone can succeed.

As we prepare for the first day of school, families can help children think about ways they can demonstrate respect throughout the year. Small actions often have a big impact, and together they help make our school community stronger.

Ways Bluejays Show Respect

🤝 Listen when others are speaking
💙 Use kind words and actions
🌎 Appreciate and celebrate differences
📚 Take care of school materials and spaces
🙋 Be considerate of classmates and staff
✨ Include others and make everyone feel welcome

Respect is one of the most important skills students can develop because it helps build friendships, strengthen communities, and create positive learning experiences. When we treat one another with respect, we create a school where everyone can learn, grow, and feel a sense of belonging.

⭐ 8 Days Until School Starts: Accountability Helps Us SOAR!

The countdown is getting exciting. In just 8 days, our Kindergarten through 8th grade Bluejays will return to Benjamin Jepson Magnet School, and today we're highlighting another important SOAR expectation: Accountable.

At Jepson, we believe accountability is an important part of helping students become confident, responsible, and successful learners. Being accountable means taking ownership of our actions, doing our best, following through on responsibilities, and learning from both our successes and our mistakes.

Accountability isn't about being perfect. It's about showing perseverance, making thoughtful choices, and understanding that every action has an impact. Whether it's completing an assignment, arriving prepared for class, helping a classmate, or taking responsibility when something doesn't go as planned, accountability helps students develop important life skills that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.

As students grow, they learn that being accountable means taking pride in their work and recognizing that their effort matters. When students understand the connection between their actions and their outcomes, they gain confidence and develop a stronger sense of independence.

At Benjamin Jepson Magnet School, our teachers help students set goals, reflect on their progress, celebrate achievements, and identify areas for growth. We encourage students to challenge themselves, work hard, and stay committed to learning, even when tasks become difficult. By taking responsibility for their learning, students become active participants in their own success.

Families play an important role in helping children develop accountability as well. Encouraging children to complete responsibilities at home, follow routines, and reflect on their choices helps reinforce the skills they use at school every day.

Ways Bluejays Show Accountability

⭐ Arriving at school ready to learn
⭐ Completing assignments and giving their best effort
⭐ Taking responsibility for their choices
⭐ Following classroom and school expectations
⭐ Setting goals and working toward them
⭐ Learning from mistakes and continuing to grow

As we prepare for a new school year, this is a great opportunity to talk with your child about personal goals for the year ahead. What do they hope to learn? What skills do they want to improve? What accomplishments would make them proud?

Being organized helps students start each day with confidence and sets the foundation for success both inside and outside the classroom. From keeping track of assignments and materials to following routines and managing time effectively, organization is a skill that helps students stay focused, prepared, and ready to learn.

As the new school year approaches, now is the perfect time to begin establishing routines that will help students have a smooth and successful start. 🤝 12 Days Until School Starts: Building Friendships and Community

The countdown continues! In just 12 days, our Bluejays will return to Benjamin Jepson Magnet School, ready for a year full of learning, growth, and new experiences. Today's countdown theme is all about friendship, belonging, and building connections.

A new school year brings many exciting opportunities. Students will reconnect with friends they may not have seen all summer, meet new classmates, and build relationships with teachers and staff who are excited to support them every step of the way.

At Benjamin Jepson Magnet School, we believe that strong relationships are an important part of student success. Whether it's a fresh box of crayons, a sharpened pencil, a colorful folder, or a brand-new notebook, every supply helps students prepare for exciting learning experiences and new adventures. There's something special about starting the school year with tools that help bring ideas to life and inspire curiosity.

At Benjamin Jepson Magnet School, school supplies are more than just classroom materials. They are the tools students use to explore new concepts, solve problems, express their creativity, and achieve their goals. Every pencil helps write a new story, every notebook captures new ideas, and every crayon adds color to a student's imagination.

As we prepare for the first day of school, families can begin checking supplies, organizing backpacks, and helping students get excited about returning to the classroom. These small preparations help students feel confident, organized, and ready to start the year strong.

We are looking forward to seeing our hallways filled with eager learners, creative thinkers, and future leaders. Together, we'll make this year one of discovery, achievement, and unforgettable experiences.

14 Days Until School Starts: Safe

The countdown continues! In just 14 days, our Kindergarten through 8th grade Bluejays will return to Benjamin Jepson Magnet School, and we're highlighting the first of our SOAR expectations: Safe.

At Jepson, being safe is the foundation for everything we do. When students feel safe, they are more confident to ask questions, take risks in their learning, build friendships, and explore new ideas. Creating a safe school environment is a shared responsibility that involves students, staff, and families working together each day.

From the moment students arrive at Jepson until the final bell rings, we focus on creating a welcoming and secure environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported. Being safe means making thoughtful choices, following expectations, caring for ourselves and others, and helping create a positive learning community.

Safety extends beyond our classrooms. It includes being respectful on the playground, traveling safely through hallways, using technology responsibly, and treating others with kindness. Every student plays an important role in helping our school remain a place where everyone can learn and grow.

As we prepare for a new school year, we look forward to helping our Bluejays build strong habits that support success both in and out of the classroom. Together, we can create a school community where every child feels confident, connected, and ready to soar.

Our SOAR Expectations

🛡️ Safe
📚 Organized
⭐ Accountable
🤝 Respectful

What does being safe mean to you? Take a moment to talk with your child about how they can help make our school a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

Bluejays! We are absolutely blown away by the generosity of our community during our "Day of Justice" event to support Yale Children's Hospital! 💙🩺

In addition to a massive wave of donated items, we collected $500 in cash donations! 💵✨ To make the biggest impact right away, our Magnet Resource Teacher, Ms. Barbara, and her son headed out on an epic shopping spree at Five Below in Old Saybrook.

It was such a success, it’s turning into a two-day adventure! 🎉 So far, we've spent $390 (with a receipt taller than us!) on lots of goodies for the Children's Hospital!

🛒 A huge thank you to the incredible staff at the Old Saybrook Five Below for being so friendly and efficient in helping us guide this massive purchase through the registers!

What's next? We still have $110 left to spend to bring even more joy to the kids. Once our next shopping trip is finalized, we will deliver the entire spectacular collection to Yale Children's Hospital.

Thank you, Benjamin Jepson family, for making this event a powerful expression of community and love!
